Aftermarket stocks for Savage Axis self. So I just bought a Savage Axis in. All I've been able to find are Boyd's gun stocks. Are there any other options as far as aftermarket stocks for the axis? Sharp Shooter Supply makes a laminate stock for the axis: It's a good looking stock. I've never personally owned a stock from SSS, but I have seen lots of good reviews.

I'm primarily looking for a synthetic stock though. Something like a Houge.

The used guns are still fantastic shooters and with a good handload or even a basic bedding of the action you can expect 1moa or less accuracy from even the beaters out there. What makes you think the axis can't shoot sub moa? I'm not saying it can every time but I have gotten sub. I don't think it's any less quality then the 's and now is gaining aftermarket like the 's. Higher end models give you stiffer stocks, adjustable triggers and etc.

But the barrels and actions are of similar quality. Plenty of accuracy potential here. But when you spend more, you get a better OEM stock, and a fancier trigger, and heavier barrels.

But the fundamental savage quality is there. And about the barrel, only way I pulled it off was handloads, plus a cold day, and a couple minutes between shots to not overheat the skinny barrel.
